ART TOUR THIS WEEKEND

Posted on Monday, 11 June 2012 11:56PM
Over the weekend of 15th - 18th June, there is a rare chance to see the creative responses of two Northumberland artists who have been working in a potting shed.

Penny Cuthbert and Jenny Mathers have produced work for sale that is inspired by the shapes, textures and colour offered by lime washed walls, rafters, old windows and original Edwardian boiler and pipe work.

In this exhibition, being shown as part of this year's Network Art Tour, Penny will be showing photographs, collages, artist's books and assemblages while Jenny focuses on cyanotypes, paintings and photographs.

The exhibition will be open from 11 - 5 pm on Friday 15th, Saturday 16th, Sunday 17th and Monday 18th June. Refreshments will be available in the walled garden and a woodland walk can be followed through the grounds of the  Shepherds Dene estate which stretches over 20 acres and includes formal gardens, meadows and woodlands.

Penny and Jenny have been artists in residence at Shepherds Dene since January, The Warden, George Hepburn says " we are thrilled that Penny and Jenny have produced work that expresses their sense of the potting shed and the walled which are the hidden treasures of the estate".
