We have a new Deputy Warden! Jackie is starting with us soon and Rachel who has worked at Shephersd Dene for a year or so will become the part-time House Assistant in June.
The gardens have burst into life now after a lovely warm and sunny week. The rockery looks good after all the hard work by Liz last year and the plants donated by various people including Gateshead Council are helping to fill the gaps. I am looking forward to the two azaleas behind the House to flower. These are such a bright pink that they catch your eye everytime you pass a window. Of course, with all the rain last week and the sun this week the grass is growing as I watch and the weeds seem to be trying to compete.
The Northern Saints Pilgrimage Tours a booking up with only a few spaces left on the August.

A busy time at work. Laura, the Deputy Warden, has finished work to spend more time with her family so we are looking for some one to be Deputy Warden until Christmas. We then close for a few months for our long awaited refurbishment. We are also looking for staff to help in the House so if you are interested give me a ring.
Continuing the labour theme, if there are any gardeners who have sorted their plots and are itching to do more weeding then do come along!
Spring is springing gradually with plants coming to life around Shepherds Dene. Hopefully the worst of the storms are over; we all had a great shock when the Cedar of Lebanon opposite the front door split in the huge winds some weeks ago and crushed two cars. The remaining stem is due to be removed.
I am still learning to operate this new website and am trying to keep it updated. If there is anything you want to see included here or in the website generally again please let me know.
