Conference
Shepherds Dene has a unique atmosphere that is difficult to define but aids a quiet retreat or smooths
an awkward meeting. It is a great venue when booked as a whole and gives guests that special feeling of relaxing in a country house.
We have four rooms that are available for meetings:
1) Newal Room (5.7m x 6.2m ) Situated on the first floor with views across the Marchburn valley, and refurbished in March, the Common Room can accommodate up to 30 people with a theatre style layout. The room can also be laid out in a boardroom style with table and chairs and has newly installed projection equipment.
2) Terrace Room (4.5m x 8.0) As the name suggests, this room looks out onto the terrace and has direct access to the gardens at the front of the house. Laid out with armchairs, up to 18 people can be accommodated.
3) Conductors Room (4.0m x 4.0m) Traditionally used as the private room of a conductor or leader, this room is also equipped with armchairs. This is a useful small meeting room for upto 10 people or can be used as a breakout room and serves also as the bar when required.
4) Garden Room (4.1 x 6.9) Located at the rear of the building there is some privacy from the rest of the house. It seats up to 15 people in armchairs or can be rearranged for boardroom meetings. There is a separate entrance into the garden.
In addition, the Chapel and the Dining Room can also be used for meetings and can each sit up to 36 people. Our guests usually gather in the entrance hall which has comfy chairs and daily papers and can also be used for meetings when the whole house is booked by a single group.
The rooms can all be arranged to suit individual requirments and projection facilities can be set up in any of the rooms as well.
