CELEBRATING THE LABYRINTH

Posted on Thursday, 08 September 2011 08:22PM by
It is nearly ten years since the Friends of Shepherds Dene, led by Christopher Lewis, build the labyrinth in the grounds. It is a copy of the classic labyrinth in Chartres Cathedral and popular with our guests, for meditation, prayer and, er, play.

During 2012, we are holding  a series of events to encourage the labyrinth habit. The great cataloguer and enthusiast of labyrinths, Di Wlliams,  leads a retreat in April on how to walk the labyrinth. Then we plan  a series of workshops over a weekend in July to celebrate the 10th anniversary. Both are listed under residential events.

As curtain raisers this Autumn, Ruth Gowland and Glynis Rose lead a day of workshops on Tues 18th October to coincide with their art work about labyrinths showing at Shepherds Dene and on 28th November Christopher Lewis gives an after dinner tlak about the traditions of the labyrinth. See details about both below.

And if you've never walked a labyrinth, just call in one day and quietly try the labyrinth experience for yourself.
